Nursing Process Teachbacks (CCS Marcus) SLOs 1, 4

To be assigned during the lecture during Week 2 to be worked on outside of class time. This will be a participation based group assignment, one group member will upload the group's presentation. The Group Leader will upload the group's completed CCS. This is an SLO Assignment (SLO 1 Critical Thinking and 2 Nursing Process) and is worth 10 points.

Using the Marcus Case Study and the client care sheet (CCS), your group will complete a CCS for Marcus and then do a brief presentation (5-10 minutes) on the nursing process on January 24. There is a "homework" component and a "presentation" component to this assignment.

Homework:

• Complete the first (left) column of the CCS including medical dx, age, allergies, etc. and discharge plan
• Organize data from the case study into the FHPs on page 1 of the CCS. If there is no data in the case study, indicate a question that you would ask to gather (assess) that data.
• Medical Problem
  • Use Basic Nursing and or Med-Surg Nursing text to complete the medical problem according to the CCS format (risk factors, signs/sx, treatment, etc.)
  • Complete the second column to complete the summary of your client (Marcus)
• Develop 3 nursing dx in PES format (use NPG) 
  • Priority nursing dx
  • Risk for dx (or a second relevant nursing dx)
  • Psychosocial nursing dx
• Write out your priority nursing dx in PES format (page 4)
• Complete the section on expected outcome (SMART goal) based on assessment data/nursing dx
• List 3-4 interventions (from NPG) including rationales (must be evidence based and directly related to goal/outcome)
• Evaluation - provide two evaluations
  • Assume your interventions worked - does the care plan need to be continued?
  • Assume your interventions did not work - what will you changes will you make to the care plan?

Presentation:

Each group member must address a portion of the presentation

• State your group's 3 nursing dx
• State the priority nursing dx, SMART goal, interventions, rationales
• Evaluation - (goal not met) state what changes to the care plan need to be made to meet the goal
