S1.3 Blood flow through the heart Links to an external site.

  • The blood flow information starts at about 2:00 minutes in and goes to about 6:00. With a quiz right after you can do.

S1.5 The nervous system and action potential Links to an external site.

  • Check out time 1:13 in video for central nervous system vs peripheral.  At 3:05 branches of the peripheral nervous system. 6:19 video of the action potential. 
  • Here is also a good diagram Links to an external site. that shows break down of the PNS.

S1.6 Muscle contractions thin/thick filaments Links to an external site.

  • Emphasis on the sliding filament model from 4:30 to 7:00 and the role of thick and thin filaments (myosin and actin)

S2.1Intro to eukaryotic cell organelles Links to an external site.

  • For TEAS the focus will be on eukaryotic cells and their organelles, and much less emphasis on bacterial prokaryotic cells.

S2.1 Mitosis vs meiosis. Links to an external site.

  • Side by side comparison starts at around 2:30.
  • Understand that mitosis produces 2 diploid cells that are genetically identical while meiosis produces 4 haploid cells that are each unique. Also check out this diagram Links to an external site. from Wikipedia to see the difference between homologous chromosomes/sister chromatids and sister chromosomes

S2.2 Transcription/Translation Links to an external site.

  • Transcription (DNA>RNA) video starts at around 2:40 translation (RNA> protein) starts around 3:50. It is unlikely you will need the codon chart at 6:00 for TEAS test.
