How to revise an existing course

To revise a course, you'll follow a 4 step process:

  • Start a new proposal
  • "Import" the previous course information, scroll to the bottom and select "Build Proposal"
  • Launch the proposal
  • Then make course revisions
  • Approve to send the proposal to the next step

Get started

  1. Once you've logged in, click on "New Proposal" in the top left corner of the Curriculog screen.

  2. Click on the blue check mark on the far right of the appropriate Course Revision:
    • 2023-24 ABE Course Revision - for ABE/ESL courses
    • 2023-24 CE Course Revision - for Continuing Ed courses
    • 2023-24 Course Revision for all other courses

"Import" the previous course information

  1. Another window will open, titled "Import Data Into Your Proposal."
  2. Click on "Acalog: 2023-2024 Working Catalog" to start processing.
  3. Add the prefix and course number to search or just prefix to search all courses.

  4. Scroll down to see the full list of courses with that prefix if you only add the prefix.
  5. Click on the title of the course you want to update.
  6. Click on the Import icon image.pngto the right of the course name. 
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select "Build Proposal".

Launch the Revision

Don't start editing yet! There's one more step.

  1. "Launch" the revision process by clicking on the button in the top of the course description window.

  2. When the "Launch Proposal" screen comes up, click on the Launch Proposal button. This officially starts the revision in the approval process. image.png
  3. The course information will be displayed in the left side of the screen. Make the changes needed for the course. 

Need to take a break? If you need to stop before you finish the whole form, click the Save All Changes button at the bottom of the screen. Then come back later and edit the proposal.

A word about course outcomes

Be aware that even if are only changing one thing, the student learning outcomes will go through an approval step. If you have not updated these recently, contact  Bob Scribner (rscribner@highline.edu) ahead of time to review your outcomes. 

Send the proposal to the next step

Once you've completed all the changes, you need to move the course description forward to the next step in the process. 

  1. Click the Decisions button on the top right side of the screen.

  2. Click Approve.
  3. Click the Make My Decision button.
