Read:
Charts, graphs, and tables give you information. They use words and numbers. You read charts and graphs. There are different kinds of charts and graphs, such as a pie chart, a bar graph, a line graph, and a table.

Read about each type of chart below. Look at examples of each kind of chart and graph. Use the charts and graphs to answers the questions on the handout your teacher gave you in class. Bring your handout to class.

Pie Chart:
A pie chart is round. It has different parts. Each part shows you a number. That number is usually a percent. The number tells you if it is a big part or a small part. All of the parts make the whole or 100%.

Bar Graph:
A bar graph uses bars to show a number. The number is usually a total for something. One side has words. The bottom has numbers. A bar graph is used to compare different things.

Line Graph:
A line graph has words and numbers. The line shows the numbers going up or down. A line graph shows change over time.
