Essay Assignment for Week 4
Focus on Climate Change
Answer the following question in essay format. See the Essay section of the online syllabus for essay success suggestions.
Watch Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. If available, please be sure to also watch the DVD update with new information since he made the original movie.
If you found the movie convincing - What three things did you find most convinced you that action on global warming is urgently needed? Explain fully. Why was it convincing to you?
If you found the movie unconvincing - What three things showed you that global warming does not require urgent action or any action at all? Explain fully. Why were you unconvinced?
Tie your comments in with the readings of the week and with your own research.
Also - if you have seen the movie before, how was it different this time? Or was it different at all?
You will want to do additional reading/research to answer the essay question and I encourage such activity. You will probably spend about 1 1/2 - 2 hours on the essay (researching and writing draft, review, writing final). The final length should be about 350 - 450 words, not including your citations.
Essays are due by Tuesdays at Midnight.
