Accessible, mobile ready content - What does good accessible, mobile ready content look like?
Good accessible content means that every student in your class has access to all of the course materials without having to ask for additional assistance. Good mobile-friendly content means that students can do their coursework on whatever device they have at that time -- computer, tablet/iPad, mobile phone, etc. Having good accessible and mobile-friendly content means we're reducing barriers for our students and helping them succeed.
You build good accessible content by using built-in features like headings, good color contrast, well-designed tables, bullets, alternative text for images, captioned videos that also include descriptive audio when needed, and PDFs that have been run through optical character recognition (OCR).
You build good mobile-friendly content by using settings, file types, and formats that automatically adjust to be viewable on smaller and larger screens. Good mobile-friendly content automatically wraps or adjusts in width to fit the screen that it's being viewed on.
Ultimately, a lot of the things you do to make content accessible are also best practices for mobile-friendly design. The next section will show you how to create accessible and mobile-friendly content.
