Syllabus Language When Using Panopto

Using Panopto adds some technical requirements for students to access the recordings, above Highline's baseline technical requirements for online and hybrid courses. As with Canvas and other tools, adding a few lines to your syllabus can help clarify technical needs for your students. 

While viewing Panopto requires only some common web browser plug-ins and a broadband internet connection (mobile wireless 3G may be okay, 4G certainly is), recording requires installing software, some hardware, and a more powerful computer.

Suggested syllabus language:

Recorded course lectures and materials willbe available using Panopto. Viewing these materials requires Internet access and speakers or headphones. 

Recording

Student recordings will have the same technical requirements as instructor recording. In short, they will need access to a webcam or headset, and a computer powerful enough to make the recordings. In addition to the above "Viewing" language, consider adding the following to your syllabus:
