Submitting Google Assignments
One way to use this orientation is to read the information here. Another way is to have your Canvas open in two places. Open this orientation in one place and have your Highline Canvas account open in another place. (For example, you might make two tabs on different monitors. You can do this at any computer lab on campus. Or you might open your Canvas account on a computer, and open the orientation on a tablet or phone.) If you have both this orientation and your Canvas account open, you can try the steps while looking at the instructions.
Google Drive: (only use the Google Drive LTI 1.3 if your instructor tells you to do that)
If your instructor allows you to submit a Google Drive file, when you select the Google Drive tab, it will open your Google Drive. You can then just find and select the document. Make sure you have updated the share settings to either anyone with the link or add your instructor's email to the "share" setting.
When you use the Google Drive option, Canvas will first ask you to "authenticate" and allow access. You can say yes. You only need to do that step once. After that, every time you open Google Drive in Canvas, you will see a your Google Drive to select a file.
First you will find the file you want to submit. Drive will show you the most recent ones first, but you can also search for the file by name. The file will be outlined in blue. Click "select" to choose the file.
Then you will be asked to double check that you are submitting the document you want to share. Check the selected file name and the click "submit."
Finally, you will submit the file through Canvas.
Don't panic if you get this message. It means things are working. Canvas will email you if there is a problem. You can always check later to make sure the submission went through.
After you have submitted, you will be able to see that you have submitted. Instead of "start assignment" Canvas will have a "new attempt" button. You will also see "submitted" with the date and time and a link to the file on the right side of the screen.
