Assignments
One way to use this orientation is to read the information here. Another way is to have your Canvas open in two places. Open this orientation in one place and have your Highline Canvas account open in another place. (For example, you might make two tabs on different monitors. You can do this at any computer lab on campus. Or you might open your Canvas account on a computer, and open the orientation on a tablet or phone.) If you have both this orientation and your Canvas account open, you can try the steps while looking at the instructions.
You can get to your assignments many different ways.
- From the "modules" page, you can click on the assignment to open it.
- Your instructor may also have an "assignments" button on the left side of the course pages.
- You can also see your assignments in the To-Do list on your home page, and in the calendar.
The picture below shows what your assignments page will look like. Click on the grey checkmarks to learn more about each part.
If you would like to make the image full-sized, there is an "expand" button on the upper right side of the image. If you can't see the image, make sure you have allowed pop-ups on your browser.
To submit your assignments, you will click the "start assignment" button and complete the assignment. The instructor might want you to upload a document, type into the text box, share a link, or share a media file. Make sure you pay attention to the directions in the assignment to complete it correctly.
Peer Review Assignments
Some instructors will ask you to provide feedback to your classmates. They will do the work to set up the assignment. When you look at the assignment, Canvas will tell you that it is a peer review assignment. When you open it, you will see your classmate's work. Your instructor will go over this more, but here is more information about peer review assignments. Links to an external site.
Group Assignments
Some courses will use group assignments. You will be able to see the group you are in. You will also see who else is in your group, and can allow one member of the group to submit the assignment for everyone in the group. Your instructor will give you more information, but you can learn more about groups here. Links to an external site.
