How to Access Canvas

One way to use this orientation is to read the information here. Another way is to have your Canvas open in two places. Open this orientation in one place and have your Highline Canvas account open in another place. (For example, you might make two tabs on different monitors. You can do this at any computer lab on campus. Or you might open your Canvas account on a computer, and open the orientation on a tablet or phone.) If you have both this orientation and your Canvas account open, you can try the steps while looking at the instructions.

There are many ways you can get on Canvas.

You can use a personal computer or tablet, and you can use a school lab computer. To get to Canvas, you type canvas.highline.edu into a web browser (this is the way you get to a website - so Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) and then log in with your student username and password. The first time you log in, you may be asked to enter your Okta code. Remember to set up your Okta Verify account.

You can also log in from your phone in two ways. The first is to use any browser, like you use other web pages. This will work just like going to Canvas on a computer. You can also use the Canvas Student app. It works great for reading pages, emailing with your instructor, and participating in discussions. For other activities, it is harder to use, so you'll need to use a computer some of the time.

One note: If you are using a Chromebook, do not use the Canvas app. Open up the Chrome web browser and type canvas.highline.edu to log into that way.
