Setting Up Your Tech

One way to use this orientation is to read the information here. Another way is to have your Canvas open in two places. Open this orientation in one place and have your Highline Canvas account open in another place. (For example, you might make two tabs on different monitors. You can do this at any computer lab on campus. Or you might open your Canvas account on a computer, and open the orientation on a tablet or phone.) If you have both this orientation and your Canvas account open, you can try the steps while looking at the instructions. 

There are many systems on campus that you need to set up to access your student accounts, enroll in classes, and complete your work. 

ctcLink

Your ctcLink account is where you enroll and pay for classes, manage financial aid, access student records, and many other things. Once you have your ctcLink ID number, you can set up your account. If you have a ctcLink account from another community college in Washington, you may use the same number. You must set up and activate your ctcLink account to do any other steps.

myHighline

Your myHighline account connects to your student email, Canvas, and Google Drive. The ITS Department will send you an email with instructions to activate your account. You must activate your myHighline account to log into your Highline email, your Canvas courses, and any computers or devices on campus (including the wifi). You must do this after you set up your ctcLink account.

Highline Okta

Highline Okta is multi-factor authentication that helps keep your accounts and data safe. Once you put your username and password into a program, you will be asked to give the computer a code, to make sure that you are really the person who is accessing the accounts. Without this code, you will not be able to access your accounts, so you must complete this step and set up multi-factor authentication.
