In order to open a bank account you must have the following:

• Identification: Passport, I-20 & Highline College ID
• Contact Information: your American home address & home telephone number
• Minimum Deposit: In order to open an account most banks require a minimum deposit of $25-
  $50. Forms accepted: cash or travelers checks.

Student Checking Account VS. Savings Account

Student Checking Account: Money you spend on regular bills for example paying the rent. You get a debit/ ATM/ bank card. You can get a check book with you name and address on it.

Savings Account: money you save over time.
