Final: Self Portrait and Synopsis

Purpose

You will create a Self Portrait based on the prompt. Through creating art and writing your synopsis, you will: 

• Demonstrate your understanding of the information in this course by using the artistic concepts and definitions correctly. 
• Demonstrate critical thinking by analyzing, conceptualizing, synthesizing, and communicating the concepts in this module through creating art and writing your synopsis.
• Properly cite the inspiration for your Self Portrait, as indicated in this module

Task

You are to complete both of the prompts listed below.

Prompt 1 - Creating: Self Portrait after...

Begin by exploring artists and artwork that are inspirational to you. Cast your research far and wide: any artist, from any culture, any time period, and working in any medium that inspires you! Choose one of their works of art and use it as the base for creating your own self-portrait. There is an example in the module.

• Please embed your self portrait and the artwork that was the inspiration in the document
• Use proper citation, as indicated in the module

Prompt 2 - Writing: Synopsis for your Self Portrait

1. Answer all of the questions
2. Meet the writing specifications:
   
   • 1.5 line spacing
   • 12 point font

In addition to creating a self portrait inspired by another artist, you will also write a synopsis about why you chose that particular artist. Write just a sentence or two about:

• What inspired you?
• Talk about the aesthetic nature of their artwork.
• What is the historic and/or social significance of this artist?
• Which aspects of the work are you using as inspiration for your self portrait?
• Write about any artistic choices you made and what you discovered.
• Again, please include an example of the artist’s work embedded in your document along with your self portrait and use proper citation.

Criteria

You will receive all 50 points by meeting the specifications and the deadline.

• 30 points for creating your Self Portrait
• 20 points for the Written Synopsis
