Purpose
Through choosing and writing about one of the prompts below, demonstrate critical thinking and your understanding of the concepts and definitions covered in this module.
Task
- You will choose one of the writing prompts listed below.

In your written answer:
- Demonstrate your understanding of the information in this module by using the concepts and definitions correctly.
- Demonstrate critical thinking by using the ideas in this module and analyze, conceptualize, synthesize, and communicate in writing your answers to the prompt you chose.
- Answer all of the questions under each prompt.
- Write one page answering all of the questions under the prompt you selected:
- 1.5 line spacing
- 12 point font
- strive for at least 300 words

Writing Prompt #1: Who Makes Art?
Who makes art? Do you think artists have innate ability or acquired skill (or both)? How do artist’s roles change with different cultural considerations? Support your answers with examples, and provide any links or images that help in your explanations. You can use the External Links to help you in your image search.
Writing Prompt #2: How is Art Made?
View at least five short videos from ART21 Links to an external site.. You can search for artist’s names by alphabet at the top middle of Art: 21’s homepage. Watch how they work and what they say about their process. Write out the full name of the artist and place one artist in each of the following categories:
Artist most concerned with the process of making the work.
Artist most concerned with creativity in the idea for their art or the work itself.
Artist most concerned with materials
Who surprised you the most?
List the artists you viewed.
Writing Prompt #3: Social Art vs. Individual Art
Instructions: Compare and contrast art created as a social activity and as a singular, individual creative act.
- What are the differences?
- Why are they important?
- Do their functions ever overlap? How?
