Activity: Concept Map - Pharmacology

In groups, draw a concept map for an assigned drug. Include the following headings:

  • Drug Name,
  • therapeutic class,
  • pharmacokinetics (absorption, distribution, metabolism/excretion, half-life),
  • indications (include routes),
  • contraindications,
  • side effects,
  • action,
  • Nursing Diagnosis (real or potential),
  • Interventions,
  • Outcomes

After drawing the map, link concepts together to formulate a picture of why the drug is used and how it affects the person.

Then come up with one question related to your assigned drug. (NCLEX-style, may be multiple choice or select all that apply).
