Hide Panopto Videos Until You Approve

Normally, Panopto will make videos available to students as soon as it's done processing them. This includes anything you upload, lecture recordings, and recordings from the Zoom integration. If you'd like to edit your videos before they're available to students, you can set that up.

In Panopto, we'll be using a feature called "Availability Workflows." There are lots of options for that; we recommend keeping things simple.

Change the default setting for the class (folder).

  1. In the Panopto folder for the class, click on the settings icon.
Panopto folder heading, showing the settings icon highlighted
  2. Scroll down to Availability
  3. Set the folder to "never (unless set on the session)". Don't worry, you can still publish each class video. We'll get to that next.

Publishing a video

When you're ready to publish a video, go to the Panopto folder. Find the video to publish.

  1. Click on settings for that video.
Screen shot of recording list, with Settings option for a video highlighted
  2. The settings will show the Overview tab. Scroll down to Availability
  3. In the section labeled "Session becomes available" click on "with its folder (immediately)"
Session availability settings, with "with its folder" highlighted.
  4. Close the Panopto settings, and the video will be available.
