Student Canvas Orientation

Highline has a customized Canvas Student Orientation that you can import into your course. (In fact, you probably did that during your Canvas orientation.)

Import and customize the orientation for your course. Put a how-to item right before a student will need the information: "Discussions: Viewing, editing, and replying" right before their first discussion post, "Check Your Grades" right after the first assignment is returned, etc. Delete orientation items for tools you don't use.

Importing the Student Orientation

To do this, go to Canvas Commons by clicking on the Commons link in the Global Navigation Menu on the left:

Canvas screen, with Commons icon on left menu called out

Once you're in the Commons Page, type HIGHLINE CANVAS STUDENT ORIENTATION into the search bar.

Canvas Commons result search for "student orientation". A red circle is on Canvas Student Orientation.

On the first page of results, you should see the Canvas Student Orientation designed by Marc Lentini. Select that course.
