Getting Started with the Canvas Contingency Course

Let's get started

We should start with our Guiding Principles for folks who are new to remote teaching:

    1. Good enough is good enough. We are going to do our very best to help students succeed, as always, and be sensible about what we can accomplish.
    2. We need to demonstrate care for our students and ourselves. We can get through this, together, if we take care of ourselves and each other.

This course, and the Zoom workshops that go along with it, is built to help you do both. There are four parts to what we're doing in the next two weeks:

  • This Canvas course is full of how-to guides, handy tips, and videos.
  • There's also a discussion space (see the left menu) for sharing ideas, assignments, and other survival tips.
  • During the week of March 23, we offered a full slate of workshops via Zoom.
  • Starting March 30, there will be fewer workshops, and more drop-in EverythingAssistance, so we can spend time helping you specifically with your courses.

Questions?

What if I can’t make the Zoom sessions? This course contains the information shared in those sessions.

What if I just want to read by myself? This course has how-to guides and videos that cover the topics we cover in the Zoom sessions.

What if I already have things sorted? Fantastic! As Sue noted in her recent email, there are lots of faculty helping each other with everything from strategy to where to click. Please take a moment to check with your discipline peers and make sure they're okay.

What if I’m already pitching in? Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. If you need anything from us, don’t hesitate to ask!

Take a deep breath, and let's put on a show!
