What You Will Learn
By the end of this module, you'll be able to:
- Define OER and the 5 Rs (retain, reuse, revise, remix, redistribute)

- Identify how you can find and evaluate OER
- Describe the elements of attribution
Overview
In this module, you'll learn about Open Educational Resources, teaching and learning materials that are free and legal to share, use, and re-mix. Known as OER, these resources are increasingly demonstrated to lower barriers to student learning. Those who use OER decisively enact academic freedom, by breaking away from conventional and traditional ways of packaging and providing textbooks to students. In other words, you'll learn about ethical and transparent ways to create and/or select instructional materials.
More specifically, in this module you'll learn what OER are and why teachers and students use OER. You'll also look at scholarly research around the efficacy of OER. Finally, you'll have the opportunity to look at collections of OER.
