What happens when your total is bigger than 100? What is 20% out of 1,000?
Step 1:
Remember that 100% is your whole or your total.
This means: 1,000 is 100%.
Step 2:
Let's use the number 10 to help us. What is 10% of 1,000?
All you have to do is divide 1,000 by 10. We can use the equation 1,000 / 10 = 100
This means: 10% of 1,000 is 100.
Step 3:
Now we use 10% to find 20%. 20% is 10% plus 10%, or 10% times two (2).
We can use the equation: 10% + 10% = 20% or 10% x 2 = 20%
We know that 10% of 1,000 is 100. This means: 100 + 100 = 200
Now we know that 20% of 1,000 is 200.
