Less than is used when:
- you want to compare two (2) things
- you have a smaller amount of something
- you are comparing that amount to something else

The number of openings for a secretary are less than for mechanics.
A cashier earns less money per hour than an accountant earns per hour.

Oksana has worked at Ace Company for twelve (12) years. Bruno has worked at the same company for fourteen (14) years. In December, they each earn a bonus. A bonus is extra money you get from your company.

Look at the bonus scale. Who earns more of a bonus each year?
Oksana has worked there for 12 years. She gets a bonus of $1,000.

Oksana earns less of a bonus than Bruno.
