How to Quote
Mistakes with quoting often happen because we write something down, or copy and paste some text, and then we forget to make a note about where the information came from. Some best practices for quoting are listed below.
- If we write something down, put quotation marks around it to indicate that these are someone else's words. Then, we should also write down the source and page where we got the information next to the quotation.
- If we copy and paste some text into a document we're writing, we should put quotation marks around the text we pasted right away. Also we should include the page number and citation for the source or a link to the website next to the text we pasted.
When we include a quotation in our paper, we also need to include the page number where that quotation came from.
