Conducting Research

This module will give you the basis for utilizing both primary data and secondary sources when researching a topic.

Primary data is the result of firsthand experience and observation.  The three main categories for primary research are 1)  Surveys, 2)  Interviews, and 3) Observation and Experimentation.

Secondary data comes from reading what other people have experienced, written down, or observed.  Our library website provides several tutorials and examples that will help you with conducting research.

It is your responsibility to understand how to cite sources and avoid plagiarism.  For our class, you will be asked to cite your sources using MLA format.
