Gradebook - Overview & Objectives

If the gradebook did nothing more than display student grades, it would still be a crucial tool as it keeps students aware of their progress in the class. Canvas, however, has loaded so many powerful features in gradebook that it can also be used as an effective pedagogical tool.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to:

• Set up the structure of your gradebook, including settings that affect the entire gradebook
• Develop an effective scheme for naming assignments
• Create assignment groups
• Use the communication tools built into the gradebook
• Adjust item-specific (column) settings, such as curving grades
