Build - Setting up the Canvas interface

The goal with laying out your course in Canvas is to minimize the amount of time students spend looking for the content and activities they need. By choosing a course-appropriate home page, laying out the course in a consistent and clear manner, and developing routines and patterns, you’re helping students get to work faster.

Below are some tips for tuning up your course.

• Setting Course Navigation - Turn on as few items as possible. Typically Home, Modules, Grades, and any non-Canvas tools you’re using (e.g. Zoom, Panopto) are all you need.
• Choosing Course Home Page - Pick either Pages or Modules home page. Keep in mind you could change after the first few weeks depending on the flow of your course. 
• Preview as students - use this to see how your students experience the class. Remember, simplicity matters!
