Plan - The PLAID Criteria
PLAID (Peer-Led Analysis of Instructional Design) provides guidelines for strong Canvas courses. This module will address the following PLAID criteria:
Course Design
- Required technology, textbooks, and other resources purchased by students are responsibly chosen and reasonably priced.
- The grading policy is transparent and easy to understand.
- Course materials and activities are readable and usable on mobile phones and tablets.
- Course materials articulate or link to an explanation of how the institution’s student services and resources can help learners succeed and how learners can obtain them.
- Course materials include a variety of media resources. (Online, hybrid)
Content and Outcomes
- Learning outcomes and course activities are aligned
- Course content is presented using a variety of media resources such as video and audio. (Online, hybrid)
Communication and Interaction
- Instructor uses multiple methods to communicate with students, for example video, audio, other communication tools.
- Instructor clearly delineates the role the online environment will play in the total course.
- Course includes regular opportunities for interaction and communication between students and instructor.
- Course includes regular opportunities for interaction and communication among students.
- Course includes formative assessments periodically throughout the quarter.
