Copying an Existing Canvas Course
Of all the import options, the one you are likely to use most often (as in every quarter) is copying an existing Canvas course. Once you have created your course in Canvas, you can transfer that course from quarter to quarter each time you teach it. You may also want to copy a course that someone else has created. If the course has not been shared to Canvas Commons (see the Canvas Intermediate module), you can copy using this tool.
A few things you might find helpful:
- To copy a course created by someone else, the instructor of that course will have to add you as a teacher in the course to be copied.
- Copying a Canvas course only applies to courses on Highline's system. If you have a Canvas course from another institution you will first need to export the file and then import the course into Highline's system. (More on this later in this module.)
