Using Attendance (Roll Call)

Attendance (Roll Call) is a tool you can use to take attendance for your face-to-face and online Canvas courses.  Is Attendance Roll Call right for you and your students? Think about why you want to use it. Is it because:

• You want to have an online attendance tool because you currently don't have one
• You want attendance to be added to your Gradebook

Pro tips:

When you take attendance using Roll Call, Canvas automatically adds Attendance as an assignment. The default point value for attendance is 100 points. To avoid Attendance calculation errors, never delete, rename, or unpublish the Attendance assignment.

If you teach a class in which students change item numbers during the quarter, e.g. IBEST, ENGLP, note that Roll Call will break in unrecoverable ways when that change occurs. We recommend using another tool for attendance in those classes.
