Importing Content: Overview and Objectives

Besides building your own course content in Canvas, you can also import content from other Canvas courses, from other course management systems (such as BlackBoard), from a library of shared materials called Canvas Commons, and from publishers. In some departments, there are model courses or templates available for courses you are going to be teaching. (Check with the coordinator). 

This module addresses the basics of importing content into Canvas and is broken down into three sections: importing content from within Highline, importing content from an another institution, and working with other content sources (such as material from book publishers).

Module Objectives

Upon successfully completing this module, you will be able to:

• Copy part or all of another Canvas course,
• Import content from other course management systems,
• Export course cartridge
• Import course cartridges, and
• Link your course with publisher materials.
