Canvas Mobile
One of Canvas's greatest strengths is its suite of mobile apps. Part of student-centered teaching is getting to the students where they live: on their mobile devices.
For many students at Highline, mobile phones and tablets are the primary source of access to Canvas. For some, it may be the only access they have to your course materials. Recent statistics from our Canvas site show that about 40% of activity comes from smartphones and tablets. Research from the Pew Internet and American Life identify several segments of the population as "smartphone dependent," meaning their primary access to the Internet is by smartphone; those segments correspond closely to our student population.
Fortunately, many of the strategies that make your content more accessible to students with disabilities also make content work well for students on mobile phones and tablets. We'll explore this more in later modules in the course. For now, start thinking about how you can make your content mobile-ready.
