Communication: Overview and Objectives

You can use Canvas to communicate with your students in different ways; Conversations (similar to email), Announcements, Discussions, and even feedback in the Gradebook and SpeedGrader.

Research shows that engaging students in the learning process increases their attention and focus, motivates them to practice higher-level critical thinking skills, and promotes meaningful learning experiences. Creating classroom community by sharing meaningful learning experiences also shows direct relation to student success. Here are several ways you can engage with your students on Canvas while creating a classroom community.
